Bridgerton is back on Netflix with an upcoming season. Viewers will be seeing even more of how the ‘other half live’ at the end of March, with their star-studded cast lineup.

This series is set within the Regency era of history, which means big open luxurious bedrooms & rooms that boast plenty of life and character.

Grand Design

One thing that radiates throughout the Regency era design spectrum are the grand interiors.

Back then, the term “the bigger, the better” really resonated with the people of this time, when rooms tended to be on the larger side which left the user with plenty of space for personalisation and entertaining.

More often than not wooden and leather furniture were symbols of interior trends, and these investment pieces have stood the test of time today as valuable antiques.

Much of the furniture you will see in Bridgerton and the Regency era has curved, indented features tailored for the individual who is using it.

Regency Textures

Only the finest materials were used within the Regency era as you will see in the upcoming season of Bridgerton.

Velvet, wood and leather were the top picks in this part of history as manufacturing and resources were very limited compared to the options available in today’s market.

Traditional hardwoods such as oak and mahogany were heavily grounded, however newer more ‘exotic’ hardwoods such as Rosewood and Tulip wood were becoming prominent choices.

Grand Design

The Colour Palette

As wooden furniture was a popular choice back then, the colours had to match this to make the room work for those using it.

If it wasn’t a darker colour being used then more neutral brighter colours were incorporated, predominantly on the wallpaper and on the flooring (e.g the carpet).

Despite the colours coming across as quite basic in today’s standards, these colours found within this era really helped to bring the room to life.
