Reasons why a lack of sleep is a no-go for creative geniuses
Despite what you may think, sleep is important, more important than staying up ‘till late to watch your favourite Netflix show (sorry, someone had to say it!).
In the 21st-century, self-expression and creativity are important aspects of everyday life and are heavily implemented into people’s livelihoods and careers.
Follow this blog to understand the importance of having a consistent sleep schedule and the health benefits it can have for you to live a fruitful, prosperous life! Your sleep problems will be gone if you can implement these tips into your daily life.
Hitting The Hay
There is more to sleep than meets the pillow, as many psychologists have conducted studies into the importance of sleep and why people should see it as a significant aspect of life.
Sleep is up there with food, water and shelter. They are necessary for human life and shouldn’t be pushed under the rug.
A famous study was conducted on rats, it found that a week with no sleep has detrimental effects on the body such as a weakened immune system and potentially death when the rats hit a 2-week no-sleep barrier.
From a less scientific viewpoint, it is clear why we sleep. We recoup lost energy from busy days, we regenerate energy if we are ill and it is a good way to destress ourselves if life throws woes at us. However, we must be aware that too much sleep can actually be a negative thing, cursing us to feel more drained once we wake up.
As of recently more studies have been conducted and have linked sleep to our learning and memory. Education and constant testing have become ingrained into society's makeup, this pushes the narrative further of how important sleep actually is for living beings.
If you are deprived of sleep, you are less likely to stay focused. This causes key information in jobs/education to go through one ear and out through the other. Not ideal!
Hopefully, the importance of sleep is starting to make more sense to you
Getting Those Creative Juices Flowing
As we have highlighted, concentration and memory can really be affected if we are deprived of sleep and rest. This results in overall creativity and productivity being negatively impacted.
If you have creative endeavours or work a mentally demanding job this could cause further stress due to your overall performance being stunted. Leading to a whole host of further issues you generally don’t need in life.
Having consistency in sleep helps your brain to make connections and helps with problem-solving - a key aspect of being a creative person. If consistency is not achieved, there is more room for irregularity in terms of ideas being formed and general performance.
